Long ago, a leading scientist had said that AI is like a genie in the bottle. As long as you are the master, you have control. As soon as it ventures out, it could potentially harm you and everything around you, bringing the world down to dust in a blink of an eye. When we asked trainers involved in Artificial intelligence courses in Bangalore on what they think about AI’s future, we were surprised to know that almost everyone thinks AI is a “beautiful trustworthy friend” and nothing can go wrong when humans are in control of the current programmable AI software. So, what’s the fluttering wave of news we keep hearing about risks involved in working with AI tools?

There are hundreds of other questions lingering on, and like mothballs, due to abject neglect from the AI community of scientists, researchers and marketers often reduced to ash and dust. This should not happen, isn’t it?

So, the questions linger on… and, it’s the purpose of any professional pursuing Artificial Intelligence courses in Bangalore to come up with the real verifiable answers to these puzzling queries. 

In this article, we have made an attempt to do exactly that — to evaluate the role of AI in human civilization and if their overtly uncontrolled proliferation into every facet of lives really poses a risk to our existence on this planet! 

Risk 1: Nobody has answered the questions on the use of AI fairly and ethically

Since childhood, we are taught to believe only things we can see and adjudge, and only trust people who speak and act their way in specific situations. But, with AI, things are exactly the opposite. Users are made to believe all that AI does is actually good and honorable without even evaluating the foundations and components used to create the AI in the first place.

The reason behind the inaccuracies rises because of the regulations and fairness frameworks currently in place or for that matter missing from the scene. All leading AI researchers agree that AI’s behavior is highly erratic and unpredictable and depends largely on the data and programming running the game. To hope that AI will be fair all the time is futile. It never happens. And, the boundaries are fading further as we pursue the next level of advanced AI solutions using super intelligent machine learning algorithms for Neural networks and cognitive intelligence. If AI isn’t fair, then it’s biased. A biased technology can never be considered as a safe entity for the human race.

The good thing happening in the AI field in recent months is the enhanced awareness about this inequality of treatment and data scientists are willing to spend more time and effort to establish a strong framework for AI ethics and bias control. Risk 2: Too much is happening with AI, too soon

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has surpassed all the expectations in the recent months by coming to the front of every innovation. From finding new grounds in the analytics reporting to putting driverless software on steering wheel control to sending drones and space shuttles without humans at helm, AI’s role can hardly be questioned. When it comes to decoding AI’s future and its importance in turning the civilization on its heads, a lot of questions are left unanswered. Many scientists and researchers involved in advanced AI programs for fairness and ethics building think that AI may supersede human boundaries and cross the legalities involved in “judicious” applications in the commercial world.

But, nothing comes even close to the dark world of deep fakes and the dark web where AI is abundantly used to create nuisance and breach trust, particularly in areas where biometrics and facial recognition technologies are involved. We encounter many such issues all through the day and our purpose in working with top AI professionals around the world remains clear—we want to stop AI from falling into the wrong hands.

Risk 3: AI is getting smarter and more intelligent than the current generation of humans!

If you observe closely what’s happening in the space of Broad AI or strong AI, you can clearly estimate that within 10-15 years, AI will govern a large part of our lives, and technology makers are doing everything possible to leverage current infrastructures such as Mobile telecom, 5G networking, IoT and countless other entities to bring AI right to our palms. If you evaluate the current trends in fitness tracking and wellness apps, you will realize we are already wearing AI on our sleeves. On a serious note though, time is not that far when AI software could be possible embedded into the brains and fire up neurons in patients with degenerative neurological diseases or motor challenges. 

We will finally surpass the era where humans will compete against supercomputers and expect to come out winning. AI would win the hands of the intelligent game down and that too with AGIs and GNNs becoming more powerful, it would be inevitable to keep AI tools out of our living space and hope they can no longer affect our decisions in life. From parenting to making financial decisions to choosing the next place for vacationing, AI will be the new life partner — and we all know how divorce rates have skyrocketed in the computer generation! At least we will have a non-human form of intelligence to blame for all the misery in our lives. It’s a domino effect that requires smart work from AI scientists today!
